Net Community

In yesterday's Good Morning Silicon Valley, by John Paczkowski:

That's always been the problem with Net community: people

Want to know why social software is doomed? Digg Corrupted: Editor's Playground, not User-Driven Website, Suspicious Digging, Digg Censors Stories That Offend Sponsors, Digg Corrupted and Digging Fraud.

I disagree. John chose the wrong headline and then draws the wrong conclusion.

This isn't an indictment of social software. This is a compelling argument for why blogs and social networking will win the day.

Who made the mistake? A few individuals, i.e. the "editors" at digg.

Who is bringing the story to light? John Paczkowski, the "Good Morning Silicon Valley" subscribers, and everyone who reads and shares and passes on the information, including the 500+ diggers and 100+ commenters of " Digg Censors Stories That Offend Sponsors", the 1300+ diggers and 255 commenters of "Digg Corrupted"...

Need I continue?

Ten years ago, if a newspaper pulled an advertisement or killed a story, or a tv station didn't want to "offend" an advertiser, how quickly was that news disseminated? How would you or I find the story or share it?

Everything we do today is being watched by the Community.
